In a report by Joe Morgan, our friends at GayStarNews reported yet another reason why they love Adele. According to their report, the pop singer was spotted letting her 3 year old son Angelo dress as Anna from the movie Frozen at Disneyland in Anaheim, California over the weekend.
This of course has caused a frenzy of both support and outrage in the twitter world.

Adele has been on record in the media stating she supports her son no matter who and what he may be growing up. She was quoted in Time magazine stating, “I can’t wait to know who his best friends are going to be, who his girlfriend or his boyfriend is going to be or what movies he likes… Whatever my kid wants to do or be I will always support him no matter what.’

While debating sharing this story out of respect for Adele’s family I realized it is important to tell. The reason is that we impose many of the gender norms of society on our children. Whether Adele’s son is allowed to dress as Anna or a cowboy at the age of 3 will not affect his sexuality or gender identity in the future. What society does not realize is that these things have already been predetermined and no amount of dress will change that. That is why I think this story matters. It is important for people to open their eyes and see. When my daughter was little she once dressed as Spiderman for halloween. It did not make her gay or transgender. I think Adele is an awesome mother for not forcing her son to conform to what society thinks gender should be. As many others have said I like her even more than I did before, and @OpiSenpai is right. This shouldn’t be news. I hope one day it does not have to be.
