Moms for Transgender Equality is a video that was produced in November 2015 by our friends at the Human Rights Campaign. Though this piece was originally created for the Transgender Day of Remembrance, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to all the great moms out there as it profiles the stories of three mothers with transgender kids. We want to wish them all a Happy Mother’s Day this weekend.

It takes a really amazing mother to support her child when they are transgender in a world where it is looked down upon to do so. Many people do not realize what they go through and how hard they have to fight for their children. For many moms, this is a matter of life and death for their child. Personally I think they are the greatest example of strength and compassion in this world. I cannot help but think of them as mothers day approaches.
There are also those of us who are estranged from their families due to a lack of acceptance. I also cannot help but think of them. Please know that you have a family here with us and that we send our love. Reach out to us if there is anything we can do.
It also has been my great fortune to meet some great writers, who also happen to be amazing people, here at Transgender Universe. Every week their stories inspire me and I am sure many others. I cannot help but think of Jennifer Simmons and Melissa Ballard, who pour their hearts out about their journeys as mothers week after week. I want to wish them and everyone else out there a happy and safe Mother’s Day.
