Proof that it is never too late to be yourself and follow your dreams, 63 year-old transgender comedian Julia Scotti is inspiring everyone on “America’s Got Talent”.

“My primary care doctor is a paleontologist”

Scotti is already making waves as one of the funniest and unique comedians ever to appear on the show. She had the judges cracking up with lines like “My primary care doctor is a paleontologist,” and “In addition to being old, I’m fat, single and broke. My 401(k), I got enough in there for about a month and a half of Netflix.”

When Howie Mandel asked why she is doing comedy so late in life, Scotti opened up with her story. “For the first 28 years of my life, I was known as Rick Scotti. So this is big for me,” said Scotti. After 20 years in the business, she stopped doing comedy for 11 years. In that time she was able to accept her true identity, transition and get back to following her dreams. Scotti moves on to the live performance round of the show. America’s Got Talent features creator Simon Cowell along with judges Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel.

Julia Scotti’s journey really is amazing. She is proof that it is never too late to be your authentic self. She also proves there is always time to follow your dreams and that you don’t stop living until you literally stop living. Regardless of whether she wins on the show or not, she has already won. Even though comedy is fun, I cannot stress how important it is what she is doing. She is breaking down barriers and making people comfortable with transgender people at the same time. Julia Scotti certainly has a fan in me and I am rooting for her. Way to go Julia!
