In today’s Makeup 411 we are going to talk about mascara and how to get amazing eyelashes. Mascara’s come in all shapes and sizes. There are different kinds to suit your needs. Before we start with applications we first need to talk about how to curl your lashes.
You will first need a great eyelash curler. I am recommending the Shu Uemura, which is the number one choice of many great makeup artists. It is deep curved with a rubber pad and does a great job with even the shortest of lashes. Here is the correct way to curl your eyelashes.
Step 1: You are going to hold your eyelash curler just like you would a pair of scissors with the rounded part pointing away from you.
Step 2: Close the curler carefully on your lashes getting as close to the eyelid as possible without catching it.
Step 3: Pull up on the curler lightly while squeezing with a pulsing grip. Remember you want to curve the lash and not crimp it.
So now that we have a great curl to our lashes, let’s get to our mascara. The most important thing to look at when you get a mascara is the brush. With mascara your lashes will come out looking like the kind of brush you use. For example if you want a “choppy” eyelash look use a “choppy” looking brush.

Just remember to roll your wand as you apply it to keep your lashes from sticking together. Another tip is to not pump your wand into the mascara. This puts air in it and dries out the mascara. So now that we have the basics, we are going to look at a more advanced application that really gets you that false lash look on your real lashes.
